Halloween is a really exciting holiday. The kid's get to dress up in kids costumes, go trick or treating, have fun pumpkin picking and more. There's a lot to do to get ready for the big night but you can start early by following some of these tips. Pick out the Halloween costume as early as possible. If you are buying a baby or toddler costume, it'll be a bit easier because you can essentially pick what you like for them. At this age, they aren't exactly picky about what they want to wear. For older kids, sometimes they get a bit indecisive. It's best to give them limited but classic options, so that they don't feel too overwhelmed. When picking out costumes, go with whats comfortable for them, especially if you plan on going trick or treating. If they do have a Halloween mask that comes with the costume, be aware that after about 15 minutes, they probably won't want to wear it anymore! Make it easier for them to keep by them so that they can still slip it on when ringing a doorbell and yelling "Trick or Treat!" but also easy for them to take off again if it's bothering them. You can also use this time as an excuse to buy a nice adult costume for yourself! If you'll be chaperoning your kids, it's nice to join in on the fun and dress up with them. It also makes you much easier to spot when your kids know exactly what your dressed up as, in case you get separated. When heading out trick or treating, make sure they have a good bag for candy. Buying a cute bucket is fun, but you can help them get even more candy by carrying extra plastic bags on you. After their bucket is full, have them dump it in a bag and carry it for them, so they can refill their bucket again! Also have them carry flashlights and extra batteries, just in case. It certainly gets dark in October! Make sure you stock up on some candy for your own house, so when you return you can share the task of handing out candy to other kids! It'll be a lot of fun for you guys to spend that time together after the long night of trick or treating. You can also sort of all the treats they got, from chocolates to sugary candies to pennies. Get the kids ready for Halloween early and you'll have a great time together!
