Shopping breeds more shopping at least in my experience. If you get me browsing for new kitchen appliances pretty soon I will be trying to buy some discount home furniture. Or worse some full priced home furniture. Thing is as soon as I buy one thing I just want to buy ten. New kitchen appliances are exciting but how can we stop at just one or two. That coffee maker seems like it will be great but why not get a new electric can opener to go with it. Why not getting an electric tooth brush too, I mean if we're going electric shouldn't we go all the way?! This sort of bargain hunting is nothing new and that it is habit forming is widely known. I can remember shopping with my grandmother as a kid. She would just go on a spiral of things she suddenly "realized she needed." The discount home furniture would sender towards cleaning supplies, decorative home arrangements and clothing. It was in some ways I suppose the reason malls are stores stacked on stores. They are preying on the addictive nature of the good buy. With the internet the problem is compounded. Now we can shop at every one of our favorite retailers all on line and all with our credit cards. None of that pesky "how much money do I have?" business to worry about. Consumer culture is of course the first great love of the American psyche and to do so with newly found ease in the comfort of our own air conditioned homes makes the prospect all the more exciting. Luckily I have always figured out when to say when. I would buy some discount kitchen appliances, sure. I might even throw a half dozen other items in my digital shopping cart but always with a firm grasp(mentally at least) on my mind. As long as that is the case you can chase that shopping dragon as far as it wants to fly. Sales and bargains are a great thing to have a nose for and so you should appreciate your talent. Shopping is a necessary thing, so being into it is certainly better than being completely bored and frustrated with it. Dive in and enjoy your passion for shopping, just be read to stick that credit card back in your pocket once you've reached your limit. Your wallet will thank you and you'll be happier.
