Making finger food snacks for kids can be a wonderful way to expand their appreciation for healthy foods. Far too many children are in the routine of eating unhealthy food, merely because they can be easy to eat, and fun as well. Why not teach your kids how to make some fun finger foods on their own, instead of letting them develop harmful eating styles? Even children who are too young to create these snacks by themselves can still have fun eating them. You're even likely to find that you will enjoy eating these imaginative and yummy goodies as well. Have a look at these tips to help encourage your creativity with regards to cooking.
Celery and Carrot Snack Nibblers
Even kids who say they are not a fan of greens will like these yummy crispy snack sticks. Start with rinsing off some celery stalks and some carrots. Peel them, and then cut them into strips you can hold easily. Kids often like these best if they are long and thin. If your child truly doesn't like celery or carrots, you could substitute any other crispy raw vegetable. Pull together an assortment of little plastic containers, such as clean yogurt containers or perhaps Dixie cups. Add some kind of dipping sauce or perhaps a sprinkle into each separate cup. For example, peanut butter, fruit-flavored yogurt, apple butter, sugar-free jelly, raisins, sesame seeds, or soybeans are all scrumptious and healthy choices. Have your child dip the veggie sticks into one of the several dipping sauces and then into one of the many sprinkles. The result will be a delicious snack which is both good for you and fun to eat. Take a few photos of your kids making and eating their healthy creations, placing them in picture frames for kitchen decorations.
Cracker Creatures
If your son or daughter likes bugs, they will really enjoy making these goodies which are cute, although a bit creepy. Start by distributing peanut butter on some circular snack crackers, topping them off with a second cracker. Get a hold of some red licorice laces, and then cut them into lengths long enough to make legs on the crackers. Your kid will pull off the top cracker, and then position the licorice lengths in the peanut butter to form legs. Then, they can replace the top cracker to form the critter. So ensure that the licorice lace sections are cut long enough so they can be assembled correctly. Provide a little bowl of peanut butter as well, along with some mini chocolate chips, raisins, sunflower seeds, or maybe other small foods to form the critter's eyes. Present these supplies to your youngster, and let the fun begin. Take a few photos of your child's most creative cracker critter creations, since they can be a lot of fun to display in picture frames.
Crouton Creations
A simple bag of ordinary dry bread croutons can often be enough to keep a child amused for hours. Your son or daughter can use these very little cubes as bricks for construction, using peanut butter as "mortar" to develop intricate but edible masterpieces of construction. And when they are all done, your kid may eat their creation, or just leave it as a wonderful exhibit for everybody to enjoy. Be sure to take a few snap shots of your child's crouton construction project, and hang them on your child's bedroom wall in picture frames to remind them of their bread brick building career.
Once your children experiment with these fun snacks, they will not simply enjoy healthy foods, but have a good time eating them as well.
