Small Kitchen Appliances And Other Essentials For Moving Out

The first time you move out of your parents' home is a very exciting time. Your mind is flooded with tasks and prep work before the day arrives. After choosing the perfect apartment, aka a tiny room located near a noisy train station and above a pizza shop, you need to begin the joyous shopping expeditions. The list is long no doubt, but you need to figure out which items are essential and which can wait.

Furniture is probably first on your list. A bed and mattress, a couch, and dining table are what you'll need right away. Well, you could put the plate on your lap and eat off the couch, but that might get irksome pretty fast. Unless you have a laptop, a desk will also be high on your list of priorities. It's hard for anyone to survive longer than a week without a working computer and internet connection. Small furniture like coffee and end tables, TV stands, and bookcases can be dealt with after you move in.

Appliances are next on the list because you do need to eat after all. Hopefully your new apartment will come with the essentials like a refrigerator and stove. But there are numerous small kitchen appliances you'll want immediately like a microwave! If you can't cook, at least you can heat up those TV dinners and the Cup of Noodles. A coffee maker, toaster (possibly toaster oven instead), and blender will make your life simple and much more pleasant. Portable grills, slow-cookers, and ice cream makers are wonderful to own, but those small kitchen appliances can wait.

All these items can really add up though. It's not hard to find great deals on furniture. Everyone always has the one relative looking to get rid of furniture and Craig's List is just a smorgasbord of unwanted, used furniture. Just be careful who you buy from. A dirty stained couch for $50 really is not that good of a deal! Finding discount kitchen appliances might prove a little tougher. Instead of immediately going to Bed, Bath & Beyond, you can find search for smaller retailers online selling discount kitchen appliances. They'll be offering much cheaper prices on all your essentials.

After the bigger items are purchased, focus on the little items like cutlery, dishes, bathroom accessories, etc. Just Google "first apartment checklist" and you can find plenty of lists that will help you stay organized. Because there is nothing worse than unpacking everything only to realize you don't have any utensils to eat with.
