Tips for Hanging Your Jewish Art

When it comes to hanging up your Jewish art, you want to pick the best placement for it and hang it up in the right way. There's a lot you can do with hanging art, whether it's a framed photo or a decorated scroll. But sometimes just nailing it to a blank wall can be boring. Here are some tips to spruce up the way you hang your Jewish art.

Think about the color of your Jewish art and what it does to a room. Color is a serious mood changer, whether the person realizes it or not. You may want to choose certain art for certain rooms based on how you want it to feel. If you want your bathroom to be a neutral space full of calm colors, that's where your more simple pieces should go as to not distract from the theme. Maybe you want your living room to be seen as a lively location, one where friends come together to hang out and spend time. Brighter art will convey that energy.

Sometimes one large painting in a room can be a better choice than too many small ones. A collage is nice, but you don't want your wall to seem cluttered, especially if it's large. Hang your biggest painting here to cover the space and use the smaller pieces for narrower walls or to rest on shelves.

When you are hanging your Jewish art pieces, think of whether you want to hang them in vertical or horizontal lines. Horizontal tends to have a calming effect and will make a narrow room seem wider. On the other hand, hanging your pieces vertically in a row will make a room with a low ceiling feel a bit higher. Both have very different effects so place them out either way and get an idea of what works best.

Consider diagonal lines as well for areas like the staircase. It'll make the area more interesting and give a very exaggerated look. Offsetting art on a single wall in a room, where one is slightly higher than the other, emphasizes the casualness of a room instead of everything looking so proper and symmetrical.

When you finally do hang your Jewish art, make sure you do it securely with the right brackets and other equipment. Always give it a little test to make sure no shaking or nudging will knock it down. With the right placement, your art will really add to a room.
