Stupidly I used to think that a watch was a watch. There was no difference in my naive sense of the world that was different when it came to a rubber digital watch purchased at a pharmacy or brand name watches sought out over time at a variety of retailers and digital shops that specialize in high quality watches. I simply did not understand the quality, the craft and the engineering that goes into making a watch. What a dolt. The level of craft being put to use buy the best watch makers is staggering. These things are made with that "Swiss precision" that people always mentioned but I never quite understood. It is all about building things to last and to look luminous and when it comes to a few companies, well, they have been knocking it out of the park for quite some time. Tag Heuer watches for example have been around since 1860. Imagine that? That's longer than Coca-Cola. The company was integral in innovation and classic designs in watch making for many years. Tag Heuer watches also managed to receive the first patent for the first dashboard chronograph a device that measured the length of a trip in a car. These variations on their central manufacturing enterprise allowed the company to expand and offer still better watches for more than a hundred and fifty years. Through there time Tag Heuer Watches have manufactured other things as well including glasses and more recently cellular phones. Tag Heuer watches is only one of the significant watch makers that showed me the error of my feelings. Wittnauer watches are also great pieces of work mad to the lofty standards of some of the best high quality watches. Like Tag Heuer Wittnauer watches is also older than Coca-Cola as a company. Though company now functions as a sub-brand of the Bulova company it is still widely understood to be one of the premier brand name watches being built today. Brand name watches it turns out are nothing to scoff at. In fact they are something that is very worthy of admiration. Similar admiration to that if great works of art and architecture or skillful dancers wowing an audience. The people who have designed and built these watches for years have truly earned the right to call what they do a craft. Turns out I might want one of these high quality watches after all.
