From Camera Optics to Digital Camera Lenses

Photographs are a great way to remember memories. Otherwise you have to rely on the imperfect nature of our own mental processes, which retain and forget specific information according to how it is perceived and the events that happen thereafter. Good luck.

I'm just glad cameras have evolved from those boxes with the handheld flash and little black veil that goes over your head, into pocket-sized HDR cameras. Speaking of, did you know that HDR stands for high dynamic range imaging, and uses a number of different luminances to better represent the variety of light found in a scene. In normal cameras, we use the term exposure value (EV) to measure a camera's relative aperture, which determines the depth of field, and shutter speed, or exposure time, which changes blurriness. EV is gauged on a scale of negatives and positives, and each number is called a stop. Anyway, HDR photos are taken by using multiple standard photos and fusing them into one image.

Pretty cool, right? Well cameras are likely getting even cooler. One of my friends who deals with video found a site with photographs that have a moving part. Like a beautiful woman standing on a sidewalk as in a normal photo, except her skirt was blowing. Bizarre, yet very lifelike. Is this where photos are headed—toward three or four second clips of life? Or Harry Potter style moving photographs where the photographed have conversations with each other while we look on. It's hard to say, but the best way to tell is to observe the current trends.

The camera-phone has been a big hit ever since it arrived and will likely be a key feature on cell phones for a while to come, but that doesn't mean digital camera lenses will fall by the wayside. In the same way books probably will not fall prey to e-readers, the camera and its six inch superzoom camera lenses will find a home in the hands of aficionados and professionals for a long time to come.

If you want to get started in photography, a camera phone or other cheap digital cameras aren't bad ideas at all. But if you know you want to get serious soon, you may consider investing in a cheap Canon camera and later buying Canon accessories to go with it. That way you can build your hobby as your photography skills improve. Treat your new Canon camera lenses as a reward for shooting good photos.
