You may have seen it on television or read a story in the paper. There are people who have quit their jobs and spent their days entering every giveaway of the day and sweepstakes in order to win vacations, cars, and cash prizes. They claim to make their entire living on winning. That's a lot of time to invest, but for a lucky few, it is a reality for them. Not everyone can be as lucky as some, but there is a method to the madness. First of all, entering every giveaway of the day can be incredibly time consuming. New giveaways pop up every single day and old ones often don't expire after just 24 hours or allow multiple entries. That means going back to old contests and re-entering, on top of adding new ones to the list. This can take as many hours as a full work day. It's all about being organized. There are also programs out there that automatically fill-in forms. They can auto fill-in every contest entry form with the click of a button so you don't have to go through every site and deal with the added time of retyping your name, address, and other contact information. Anyone who seriously enters contests uses programs like this to cut their time down substantially. You'll also want to consider your odds in certain contests. Would it be worth writing an essay for one if you aren't too sure about your writing skills? Maybe you would prefer single entry contests where everyone has the same odds. Or maybe you'd like multiple entry contests so you can try to do your best to edge others out. Just remember that with prizes come the consequences of taxes. That car giveaway of the day may seem like the most thrilling win ever, but you'll have to pay taxes on the full price of the car. And then worry about insurance and other costs. Sometimes going for just cash prizes is the best choice because you can have taxes taken out immediately. That way you don't have to worry about a surprise next April when the IRS comes knocking at your door. Making a living off of sweepstakes is a rare thing, so don't think it's a surefire way to get by. But it can also be a fun hobby, so at the very least you can take some of these tips and hope to win that Caribbean giveaway of the day.
