I love luxury watches more than I love a lot of stuff. Honestly if I had to make a list of my favorite things ever I'd put my love of a luxury watch just above my favorite movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day and just below hot dogs. Seriously if a holiday or my birthday is coming around and you want to be on my awesome list you should go out and drop a chunk of change on a designer watch. What designer? I like all kinds. I would certiainly be up for an A Lange and Sohne watch or an Audemars Piguet watch, really as long as they are stylish and on time I can enjoy them.
That said, I do not enjoy them enough to steel. Theft is a terrible way to go, no matter how hard you happen to be jonesing for designer watches. I bring the horrible reality of luxury watch theft up because it was in my local newspaper recently. A collector of designer watches in my neighborhood found himself the target of an insidious group of thieves looking to get a big pile of high end goods and "flip" them for cash and drugs. It seems so sick to me that some monster would take something as perfect as a designer watch and use it for evil but some people do these things. There is no accounting for the malice in some people. These clearly awful criminals took designer watch after designer watch from this poor collector. A Hublot watch, several Audemars Piquet watches, several more A Lange and Sohne watches, and others still. It makes me sick that for even a short period of times this beloved collection would be in the wrong hands. As you can imagine the watch collecting community in my town, myself included, was very interested and exercised about getting these watches back and bringing these goons to justice.
The police launched an exhaustive hunt for the malicious watch thieves. After a rash of similar robberies had plagued a small appliance shop recently there was reason to believe the culprits were the same folks. These monsters were likely hiding in plane sight. Turns out they were and our brave men and women in uniform following a trail of clues left by these numbskulls were able to apprehend them and get all of the watches back to their rightful owner. He was so happy that he gave the arresting officers one of his beloves A Lange and Sohne watches. Lucky cop!
