Despite what some believe, there is a right way and a wrong way to propose with diamond engagement rings. Some ways aren't so much "wrong" as they are just plain cliché and not romantic. You can't just follow the advice everyone else gives you. You have to obviously know what your girlfriend finds romantic and what she doesn't. Chances are she's dropped subtle hints, but even if she hasn't don't do any of the following after purchasing diamond jewelry online. The number one strategy is to propose in a way that she will like and not what's good for you. Yes she enjoys going to those basketball games with you and she even wears the jersey, but that doesn't mean she wants you to pop the question on the Jumbo Tron. Unless she's a really really big sports fan and you've heard her actually say that's romantic when others have done it, avoid this at all costs. Also to be avoided without a doubt is to put diamond engagement rings in food. Even if it's in a clear glass of champagne that she can see, she still has to fish it out and then dry it off. Hiding it in the bottom of chocolate mousse is a choking hazard, simple as that. It won't be romantic when you tell the story to your folks how you had to perform the Heimlich maneuver. Hallmark seems to think that Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year. Therefore, many men fall into the trap of proposing on this holiday created by the greeting card company. Women prefer spontaneity and she'll see that proposal coming a mile away. Let everyone else have that day instead. Hollywood has also implanted another deadly trap into men's brains. There are countless movies where the woman of your dreams is marrying someone else so the man barges into the wedding and asks her to marry him instead. This could go wrong in so many ways. It's not very romantic and not classy in the least bit to ruin someone's wedding. If you love her, give her the engagement ring before the wedding. We live in a very tech savvy age, but that doesn't mean you should rely on technology to be romantic for you. You can buy fine jewelry online, but you should propose online. Sharing that intimate moment with your partner over Twitter and Facebook is just wrong, so very very wrong. It shows no effort whatsoever. You don't have to come up with some elaborate scenario, but if you expect her to say yes, put some thought and serious effort into your proposal.
