In the past we used to burn coal for energy. These days there are a lot of different energy solutions available - many more so than forty years ago. Green energy is more popular than ever and this article will detail some of the most sustainable and renewable ways to power your household. Direct sun energy is good for regions that receive a lot of annual sun. Active solar energy, such as photovoltaic cells, collects the energy for later dispersion. Passive solar energy uses orientation and materials in order to naturally make use of the sun's energy. This energy solution can't deliver the same kind of power as coal burning or even wind power, but it is gaining in popularity, especially in the United States. Wind power is a very popular way to harvest energy. Wind turbines create electricity, and windmills yield mechanical power. This is some of the cleanest energy produced by renewable energy sources, although it is sometimes not preferred due to the visual impact of huge wind turbines on the landscape. Biofuel is derived from living organisms, specifically plants such as sugar and soybeans. Bioethanol is produced after the sugars in these plants are fermented. Ethanol is used as a gasoline additive and can improve fuel consumption. Biomass is made from living or recently living plant or animal organisms. Recently living trees, branches, and animal matter is burned to form hydrogen, which is another increasingly popular clean fuel used to power vehicles. Geothermal energy comes from the earth. It is found in the decay of radioactive minerals, as well as during volcanic activity. This is the same energy that naturally heats hot springs. In the past, geothermal energy has only been found near tectonic plates but recently has been explored in other areas due to new technologies. Choosing a natural gas supplier is a great way to make a green decision about what kind of energy you use. Natural gas was originally found after oil was produced and kept in injection wells until it was ready to be used. Today, many pipelines go straight to the consumer's home. Natural gas burns cleanly, much more so than coal and oil. If you want to change your energy solutions company, don't wait. There are many different clean energy solutions available and you can expect them to become increasingly prevalent as technology improves. Talk to your energy service company today about making the switch.
