If you're noticing your digital camera having problems it is time to get a new one. Of course, because what can happen will happen, your camera most likely broke during an inconvenient time for you. If that is the case then finding discount digital cameras is wise. You can still get a high quality camera, you just need to be smart about it. If you're really comfortable with the one you have but it's been several years, then chances are you're not going to find it on display at a retail store. You can always ask what newer model is most like it if that's something you think will work for you, however, if you really hate change and want the exact same camera then you should really look online. Online you will also probably find your digital camera on sale. Most digital cameras on sale will be the older models. So that will work to your benefit. If you're looking for a brand new camera, you should look during holiday sales. Digital point-and-shoot cameras are great if you're looking for something simple. They don't require any added skills to use. You literally just click and shoot. Viola! As for features- as long as they have a decent zoom, megapixel count of 6 or above, and some variation of a quick capture you're good to go. You can also find cheap digital SLRs if you know when to shop and where to shop. If a store is having any audio/video sales that is the best time to strike. This counts for video cameras on sale and accessories as well. The differences between digital SLR (also known as DSLR) cameras and the typical point-and-shoot cameras is their level of performance. If you love photography and take pride in the photos you take then holding out for a DSLR is worth it. Competition is pretty stiff between brands but usually the top two are Nikon and Canon. Nikon DSLRs and Canon DSLRs are pretty much guaranteed for quality. You will have plenty of options for lenses and cases and you will be more than satisfied if you learn how to use them properly. With new models of cameras coming out for practically every season there are a ton of slightly older cameras on sale for you to select. Most of the differences between the newest model and the one before it are fairly superficial anyway and won't make much of a difference.
