When I recently saw a good deal on discount Canon digital cameras on the web I decided to spring for one for my little brother. It was not that he showed any particular interest in photography but I thought it would be a great thing to have as he entered the summer between high school and college. I remember my first Nikon SLR, it really opened my world up. I became an avid photo taker if not a real photographer and always reveled in the ease with which the camera functioned. I remember unwrapping my new Nikon camera and being surprised by it at my birthday but as the summer rolled around I found myself to be deeply interested in what my camera could do. Canon compact digital cameras are a great place to start for someone like my brother who is not particularly interested in the details of using a camera. It is completely user friendly and as soon as he opened it he knew how to use it. I was excited by his enthusiasm. Honestly you don't need to buy the best SLR camera either, the general quality among Nikon and Canon are fairly similar and so I would say whatever is cheaper. It is very refreshing to have these SLR cameras on sale fairly inexpensively. This allows everyone an opportunity to try on their photographer hat. I know it thrilled me and it seemed to thrill my little brother as well. My little brother brought his new digital camera out with him the night he got it and immediately went to work with it. The next day his Facebook had more than a hundred new photos. It was thrilling to see a gift I purchased for him put to immediate use. I was so excited that he enjoyed the gift! That the photos looked good was just gravy, a very delicious gravy indeed. Since I gave my brother the gift it has rarely left his side. He officially loves his Canon SLR camera. So if you are strapped for ideas for a graduation or birthday gift for a person in their teens or early twenties don't hesitate, buy digital SLR cameras. It is the sort of gift that can really leave a lasting impression, not just as a play thing but as a way to keep memories of some of the best times of their lives. With that SLR camera you have sewn yourself into those memories perfectly.
