A Brief History Of Omega Mens And Omega Ladies Watches

You've probably been told at least once in your life that it takes time to build an empire. For some, that phrase was taken quite literally. After all, what better way to rule the world than by controlling the watch market? Every single person relies on time-keeping to go about their busy day. Think about it just briefly and you'll realize that time controls almost everything that we do. Our day starts and we look at the time. We time how long it takes to get ready in the morning, how long it takes for us to make breakfast. We even look at the time as we impatiently for our coffee to brew. Once we chug it down we run out the door and pray we make it to work on time. And that's only just our morning routine. Need this list continue further? Our lives mandate that we keep an accurate record of our spent time. Omega, among other brands, realized how important this is to society. It has been ingrained for thousands of years. Brand name watches are just our current form of time-keeping.

Some of the earliest societies kept records of time. The Ancient Greeks used sundials to indicate what time of day it was. The word Omega means "big O." It is often used alongside Alpha to represent the beginning and the end. It is a circular concept, something that lasts eternally. By using the name Omega, you see that a watch company had big dreams considering it started as a family run business for pocket watches. They began developing omega mens watches in the late 1800s.

These watches would sell quite well throughout the decades until the World Wars required them to merge with Tissot. However, Omega brand name watches didn't die out. They continued to manufacture well into the 1970s and beyond. They had several switches in command but eventually landed in the hands of Swatch by the 1990s. This was far from a bad thing because they still hold their own against their competitors. Like other watches, such as Raymond Weil watches or Tag Hauer ladies' watches, they are ideal for business but can be used just as commonly for casual endeavors.

If things progress as they have been, then it's probably safe to say they'll be around for decades to come. They seem to have chosen their name wisely as with a circle there is no imminent end in sight.
