Easy and Fun Paper Craft Projects for Youngsters

Paper craft projects are a fun, inexpensive, and straightforward way of spending some quality time together with your kids. These projects can almost be priced at no cash, since all you need is some scrap paper and a few accessories. Irrespective of what age your sons or daughters are, you can find a craft project that your children will love making. Below are some easy craft projects that you can try for starters.

Necklaces from Paper Beads

These beads are wonderfully simple and easy to create, and even your small children may have fun with these. You just need some scrap paper, like construction or scrapbook paper, a lollipop stick or piece of small dowel rod, a ruler, a set of scissors and some tacky craft glue. If you are including your small children in this craft, be sure to cut a supply of paper triangles ahead of time to be able to use. To begin making the beads, make use of a bit of stiff cardstock plus a ruler to produce a triangle template. The width of the triangle's base is going to be corresponding to the size of the bead. Draw triangle shapes upon the reverse side of your paper, using the template to be a guide. Next you will cut out the triangles. Starting with the wide base of the triangle, roll the triangle paper piece around the lollipop stick. Apply a modest amount of glue to the tip of the triangle, and press in place to form the bead shape. Hold constantly in place for a minute or two then remove the bead from your stick and set on a piece of aluminum foil or waxed paper to dry. When the glue is dry, it is possible to string the beads onto cord to create necklaces or bracelets.

Making Paper Snowflake Crafts

Making snowflakes out of paper is a classic craft that children always seem to enjoy. If you would like to produce a paper snowflake, you cut yourself a large square of cheap white copier or printer paper. Fold the paper square in half vertically then fold in half again horizontally. You will make one last fold, this time diagonally, forming a triangular shape. Take some scissors to make some small cuts on your long edges of the triangles. Then cut a decorative edge across the short end on the triangle, that will end up being the outer edge of your snowflake. When finished, unfold the snowflake carefully. One great use for these will be to decorate your windows throughout the long winter season. You can also make some interesting wall art by placing one or two in some pretty square white picture frames to put on your wall.

Making Origami Crafts

The Oriental paper folding craft called Origami can be a ton of fun, especially for children who are a little older. You will find instructions for Origami either online or in bookstores. Depending on the project you choose, you may finish with a three dimensional folded piece of artwork to display on your shelf, or flat folded pieces acceptable for placing in 8x10 picture frames. Either way, it's a great way of creating beautiful art from simple items of paper.
